Objectives

Antoni Norman, the developer of Pinguy OS, has stated his goal is to provide a customized, easy-to-use Linux distribution for people that have never used Linux before. Pinguy OS is also meant to appeal to Linux users that want an operating system that simply works out-of-the-box , significantly reducing the tweaks and enhancements that are often required when installing a fresh copy of Ubuntu or other Linux distribution.[4]

A summary of Pinguy OS states the distro "features numerous user-friendly enhancements, out-of-the-box support for multimedia codecs and browser plugins, a heavily tweaked GNOME user interface with enhanced menus, panels and dockbars, and a careful selection of popular desktop applications for many common computing tasks."[2]
